Download Mac Lights

December 21st, 2006

Mac Lights has been released. After a few days of hard work, it's here!

Mac Lights, as said previously, is a Holiday Lights inspired application that places virtual bulbs around your desktop. These bulbs flash in your prefered pattern and colors. You can choose to have Mac Lights overlay all windows, or simply stick to the desktop.

The most crafty holiday fanatics can even create their own bulbs, by simply copying and editing the .lightbulb files located in ~/Library/Application Support/Mac Lights/. The process is pretty straightforward - just change the bulb graphics to your liking and edit the Info.plist file.
In fact, send me your custom bulbs, and if I get enough I may put them up on the website to download, or even bundle them with the app itself.

I've neglected to mention my charity in previous posts. Donate, and you'll be donating to the World Wildlife Fund. Endangered animals desperately need your help!

Special thanks goes to OneToad Design for the fabulous default bulbs.

Lights!

Okay, so I'm clearly not the only person to go the lights route. But I went for an approach similar to the old Holiday Lights, and the result is really cool and very Mac OS X-like. More details and the app to come soon!

Hey, I'm Dustin, you may know me from various software such as uhh, Wallet! As well as a few other projects mostly from Waterfall Software.

There's one extremely cool Holiday app for OS 9 that I have been dying to see done on Mac OS X for a long time. You'll soon see what this is.
