Subservient Snowflakes

December 21st, 2006

I'm choosing to be ultra-resourceful in this challenge. That is to say, lazy. I'm on vacation, and have almost no time to dedicate to new, englightened thinking. So I've essentially adapted an existing project of mine, Subservient Blips, which itself was based on a Java applet by my friend, David Van Brink. To make matters even less original, I've stolen the snowflake images from Snö, one of the very projects that was cited as an inspiration for this challenge. BUT everything is included in the open source distribution, and this is a pretty fun little holiday screensaver, in my humble opinion. So take it as you will!

Download Snow Tracker now. Before you get too excited, it's not about weather, or anything exciting like that. From what I can tell, it's probably quite a lot like the Snö screensaver, but that particular product would not run on my Intel MBP. It's a screensaver. You'll see snowflakes. They'll rotate and float around your screen, and when they get close to each other, you'll see a nerdy proximity detector. That's the Van Brink factor :)
